A Blog About Nothing
Well, I knew it would happen. As soon as I signed up for another year of blog writing, I would be smack out of ideas. How did “Seinfeld’s” writers manage to get nine years of hysterical situations from a show about nothing? Can I do that for the next year on my blog?
I considered what I’ve written about so far. Could I reprise the topics? I recently passed a misspelled sign in a store window but I was to (sic) weary to even capture it. I have enough Math Puzzlers to present one weekly for the next two years, but is that what my readership is interested in? How about my adorable grandchildren? Have you seen Lila’s performance of
“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat?” Perhaps I can videotape it and force, I mean, invite you to watch it. My 12-year old grandson, Jonah, is into the new 3-D printer. Would you like to watch as he creates a model of an action figure he’s working on? Only takes about 3 hours to complete. I’m an accomplished knitter; perhaps you’d like to hear about my latest creation.
Certainly, when Mother’s Day comes around next May, I’ll do a tribute to my Mom as I had of my Dad. But that’s 9 months off…..
I’ve still got more to grumble about that I could add to my Complaint Department. Two come quickly to mind from my day at the beach yesterday: Parents who stick a pacifier in the mouth of their 5-year old child. What’s that all about? The kid will grow up speaking like this, if at all: “Mmmmf, pphh, trrr.” Growling and shouting children who run wildly after seagulls. I always have the urge to do the same to them.
And, then, there are always our trips. Our friends say our stories are so interesting….There’s the time we stayed at a Caboose Motel in Titusville, PA. Yup, the motel was comprised of a string of cabooses from various trains, each of which served as a “motel” room.
How about waxing poetic over a beautiful sunset; here’s a recent view off the dock of Fair Harbor, Fire Island, where we recently spent two blissful weeks:
So there you have it. A blog about nothing, or close to it. Perhaps my readers would like to suggest a topic? Then again, if no one does, I might start writing about YOU!

Everyone loves what you guys tend to be up too. This sort of clever work and exposure!
Keep up the good works guys I’ve added you guys to blogroll.
I thought this was so clever and cute.
Thanks, Lexiesnana. I look forward to looking at your blog!
Quite a post I’d say. It made me smile
Well, I was looking forward to all those math puzzles, but I’ve also found that the few readers I do have don’t seem to have much mind for… well, frankly, anything that makes them think or takes them outside their comfort zone. I’ve come to realize that WordPress has more in common with Facebook than I like (that is, it’s a social party place, not an education/information platform).
You’ve gotten good response from your more personal posts, so if popularity is any part of your goal, that’s probably the way to go. I just wish there were more bloggers devoted to technical material. 😦
Thanks — you’ve given me some good advice. I, too, like to stick with personal musings. People seem to enjoy that.
So,… no Hilbert Hotel blog post? 😦
I haven’t completely rejected that yet!
Are you suggesting that blogging can be therapeutic in that it may ameliorate symptom’s of annoyance with punctuational idiocy? I may have to try it my’s elf!
Whatever you say! I couldn’t say it better (but perhaps clearer.)
