Travel Observations
Some observations during my recent trip down south:
My husband and I stopped on the turnpike for a breakfast break around noon. I always bring my own food rather than have to chow down fries or other unhealthy choices, but
I always buy coffee. I went to the cashier and she said, “What size?” I said, “Are there free refills?” She answered in the affirmative. “Then, why would I pay for a large?” I asked her. She shrugged and off I went with a small cup that I refilled 3 times. Duh!
At the same rest stop, I noticed that all the burger fixings at Roy Rogers are free. One can easily bring along a roll and make a delicious sandwich of shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and relish for the price of … nothing!
At our time share we asked how soon our unit would be ready. “Oh, that depends on what kinds of moves are happening.” I inquired further. “Let me see,” said the receptionist, “You are waiting to move into unit 555, which is currently occupied by A who is moving into unit 342 where B is currently staying; B will be moving into 221 where C is packing up to go home. So, with a triple move, the wait time can be lengthy!” Oy vey.
Have you ever been to a supermarket in an area where many people are temporary residents? In Florida, when I go to Publix, I see numerous people wandering the aisles like zombies, searching for items. One gets into a trance-like state just trying to find a jar
of olives, a box of quinoa. Of course, the people who work in the store are helpful but every time I ask, they insist on walking me to the aisle invariably 7 aisles away from where I started. And of course my next item is back where I started from.
Finally, we attended a wonderful performance. … Those of you who read a previous blog Performance Great, Audience Stank will remember the awful experience consisting of an offensive smell from an audience member. Guess what? Same smell, not as heavy, but this time … I wasted no time in moving! I must figure out what that repulsive odor is … a new perfume? a moisturizer? medicinal cream? If you know, please let me know. Thanks.
